Expanding on App Designs

With the user research studies, competitive audit, usability tests, and iterations from the app design process, we began work on the web version by expanding on ways to discover art.

we kept it to three main navigation topics:

Browse Pages

Users expressed an interest in more guided browsing suggestions.

With this in mind, we brainstormed different search lists for each Browse Page, such as Just Added, Near You, Trending, Styles, and Filters.

Users maintained an interest in shopping for art with an exploratory spirit

(ie, not having an initial search

directive when approaching the website).

Product Pages and the Checkout Experience

From the usability studies, we learned that users preferred a quicker checkout experience with less steps.

Checkout Process

The “Order Submitted” confirmation page pops out, and offers users the option to continue browsing, and suggests artwork they may be interested in.

View Artist/Event Pages

The View Artist page is a profile on each artist, shows a grid view of their works, and suggests similar artists.

Users have the option to “follow” an artist to stay updated on their events, sales, or new arts.

The View Event page allows user to learn more information about an upcoming gallery opening, showing, or art sale.

Users have the option to RSVP, which adds the event to their personal calendars (third party), or select “Might Go”, which will also give them reminders about the event without adding their name to any online lists.

Users may also add an event venue (gallery) to their list, which will then notify them of any new shows or openings.

Other upcoming shows, featured works, and a map of galleries/museums nearby are also featured as browsing options.

Takeaways

Converting the app to a site formatted for web allowed us to elaborate on our ideas and goals with Artful.

Goal:

  1. Make it easy for user to find art they love, and purchase it.

2. Make it easier for users to find art events nearby, RSVP, and attend them.

Provide a space for artists to list their work and create their own profile pages.
